Little Stories with Two Big Purposes
My Connection & Comprehension Series began with a story I used in my own life and wanted to share with others. That story became Whiny Walter, a lovable Highland cow who learns new ways to express his feelings in the misty Scottish Highlands.
The series brings together two things that can grow beautifully side by side: emotional intelligence and reading comprehension. As children explore the characters’ feelings, choices, and relationships, they also practice making sense of a story, thinking about why something happened, connecting ideas, and finding meaning beyond the words.
Thoughtful questions are woven right into the books, planting seeds of reading comprehension while encouraging empathy, self-awareness, communication, and emotional regulation. There’s no extra planning for parents or caregivers. Open the book, enjoy the story, and let curiosity lead.
These moments don’t need to become lectures or another task to fit into a busy day. They can be playful, warm conversations that help children discover new ways to respond, express themselves, and understand others. My hope is that those small discoveries become positive changes that reach well beyond story time.
Whiny Walter is available now, with five more books ready to follow in the series.
Practical Tools for a Little More Breathing Room
My Focus Formula journals and digital downloads grew from a similar desire to share what has helped me. I wanted to take some of the most useful skills I’ve learned—practical life skills that aren’t always explicitly taught in school, and make them approachable for teens and adults.
Knowing you want to feel organized is one thing. Knowing where to begin is another. Through guided prompts, reflection, and manageable steps, Focus Formula helps turn a tangle of thoughts, responsibilities, and goals into a clearer path forward.
These tools support time management, project planning, goal setting, and everyday habits. But the purpose goes beyond getting more done. It’s about creating room to think, building trust in yourself, and having more freedom to enjoy your life.
Whether you’re a teen learning to manage new responsibilities or an adult who has never quite found an organizing system that fits, I want you to feel that you have a place to start.
The Good We Can Do Close to Home
Everything I create comes back to one hope: that following what brings me joy can offer something meaningful to someone else.
I believe in building the best of what we imagine the world can be, starting with how we show up for the people around us. We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can change our immediate circle with a little more understanding, encouragement, and care.
For me, that begins with a story, a blank page, and the decision to keep creating. I’m glad you’re here to be part of it.
